My trip to Monterrey, one of the largest and most important cities in my country, Mexico. It was my first trip entirely on my own, and it was an exiting moment in my life. Only two days, but I have excellent memories. I met friends and felt free, in a city with magical, beautiful places to be found.
First day I went to the airport of Mexico City (my homecity) in the morning to catch the plane. It was the first time ever I boarded a plane on my own, without my family. I was so nervous and excited! I had a nice breakfast on the airport then took the plane. After an hour flight I landed safely on Monterrey. I checked in at the hotel and immediately after I went to visit my friends. I was nervous, because I only knew them from long distance friendship, but I had longed to meet them in person… they’re kind of my best friends in the world…
Everything went fine in the end. I was a guest at their home until very late at night. We ate nice food, we exchanged gifts and talked a lot about a lot of stuff, and took pictures together. I’ll treasure that day forever as one of the best in my life…
Next day I was on my own.
I visited some of the iconic places of the city. Paseo Santa Lucía, which is a beautiful artificial river that goes through the city, and you can take a boat tour across it, very similar to the natural river one in San Antonio, Texas.
From there I visited Parque Fundidora and the Museum of Steel, where I learned a lot about Monterrey’s historic importance as a mayor manufacturer and supplier of steel for Mexico, USA and the world. From there I also enjoyed fantastic views of the city from the highs. It was beautiful.
Those two days were probably the most fulfilling moment of my life.
